Oyetola Vows To Get Rid Of Criminals In Osun, Meets COAS, Buratai
In his bid to leave nothing to chance in ensuring that Osun State is secured for lives and properties, Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Thursday met with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen, Tukur Buratai at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting with the Nigerian Army high command is part of the Governor’s unrelenting effort, as the Chief Security Officer of Osun State, to coordinate effort to put security situation under tight control.
The Governor said after the meeting that “to compliment our ongoing efforts against criminalities taking roots in Osun; I was at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja where I met with the Chief of Army staff, Lt. Gen.Tukur Buratai. We discussed and resolved to team up with the Nigerian Army to intensify our efforts alongside other Osun stakeholders in stemming the tide of recent cases of violence, kidnappings and banditry.”
To Governor Oyetola, it won’t be under his watch that the people of Osun State will be living under fear. He said: “Our people would not live in fear, neither would we allow our state, the adjudged most peaceful of the federation, to be turned into fertile ground for violence.”
Unknown to many people, the Governor and his team have been working even beyond the normal official hours to ensure that Osun State is secured. Oyetola revealed how security chiefs in the state and other top government officials went round the state capital, Osogbo on Thursday night to monitor situation, all in the bid for people to live in safety. He commended the officials for a job well done.
“Kudos to Osun Security Chiefs and our top government functionaries who went round the state capital Thursday night to ensure the peace Osun is known for remains intact. You can trust our Government to always be proactive,” the Governor said.
In the past few weeks, the Governor has been on top of the situation concerning the issue of security in Osun State. He recently organised two separate security sensitisation meetings with stakeholders. In the meetings were traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the society.
Only last week, Governor Oyetola presided over a security council meeting which had in attendance all heads of security agencies in the state in his bid to find immediate and long lasting solutions to cases of breach of security in Osun State.
