Uber Driver Sells Boss’ Car, Cooks Up Robbery Attack Story

Nemesis caught up with an Uber driver, Ademola Quadri, who allegedly sold his company’s car and reported to the Police that armed robbers snatched the vehicle and escaped in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the false alarm tasked the Police Intelligence team, who wanted to unmasked and arrest the robber. But it turned out that Quadri was the actual robber, who reportedly stole the car and he was arrested with his accomplice.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana. He said that on 1st July, 2019, at about 2200hrs, One Ademola Quadri, 39, of No. 24 Oloko Street off College Road, Ogba area of Lagos, reported at Igando Police Station that three armed men snatched his Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration no: SMK 732 BR, property of Pinehill Leasing Ltd.

The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Taiwo Kasumu, suspecting something sinister, quickly activated credible intelligence network following up on call details and relevant messages of Ademola Quadri, who was not aware his transactions were been monitored.
Elkana revealed that more facts emerged when a message of N560, 000 entered Quadri’s phone with a follow up message demanding to have the car having made part payment.
The suspect, during interrogation, confessed to the commission of the crime and led detectives to Ijegun area of Ikotun where the purported snatched vehicle was kept pending full payment. The Police recovered the vehicle as exhibit and parked it at the police station for further investigation.
During investigation, the police arrested two other suspects namely, Uche Sunday, 32, the marketer, who claimed to have negotiated the purchase of the car online from Jiji.ng and one other, (name withheld) suspected to be an innocent buyer.
DSP Elkana said that the suspect, Quadri, confessed that he cooked up the robbery story to enable him raise money to buy ticket and travel to Canada for a better life. He said that the Command had advised citizens to be careful before parting with funds when carrying out online transactions and the two suspects have been charged to Court.
