An officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Nelson Fisola, tasted the bad side of a driver, Abdulramon Awofala, who he tried to apprehend for contravening traffic law in State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the officer, Fisola, was mercilessly battered and pushed inside the gutter before he was rescued by people but by then he had already sustained injury.

The incident happened at Aiye Bus Stop in Isolo area of Lagos, where Fisola was assigned to perform his traffic duty.

It was gathered that the driver in question, Abdulramon, contravened the traffic law by driving against traffic and he was apprehended by Fisola. He then attempted to force the driver to their office to impound his vehicle and for him pay a fine.
However, the driver insisted that he did not drive against traffic as claimed by Fisola and told him that he cannot impound his vehicle at that period. It was then that the officer, Fisola, attempted to force the driver to drive his vehicle. The driver, Abdulramon, then grabbed the officer, battered him and pushed inside the gutter before the Police in the area rescued him. The Police arrested Abdulramon Awofala and took him to the Aswani Police Division.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and later charged him before the Isolo Magistrate Court for assault.

He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Oje Uagbale, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the matter against the driver, Abdulramon.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Teluwo, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 19th August, 2019.
