How Pretty Modupe Susan Garland Emerged 2019 Miss Earth

Miss Modupe Susan Garland, 21-year-old model and Environmental Biology undergraduate has been crowned the 2019 Miss Earth Nigeria.

Miss Garland emerged winner beating 15 other finalists at the prestigious grand finale held on Saturday, August 3 at the Mega 1 Events Place in Lekki, Lagos.

The new queen will represent Nigeria at the Miss Earth 2019 pageant holding in the Philippines in October.

Speaking on the victory of the new queen, Ms. Ibinabo Fiberesima, National Director of the pageant and CEO, Serendipity Media Limited, organisers of the beauty competition, said Miss Garland, a native of Lagos State stood out among a pool of beautiful and intelligent ladies.

“Her environmental advocacy bordered on air pollution and a prospective campaign to combat same, first in Lagos State and then round the country,” said Fiberesima, a former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

“She is anti-fossil fuel and has a mission to plant 5000 trees alone in Lagos State in association with the Lagos State Parks & Gardens Agency LASPARK,” she added.

Also emerged and crowned in various categories as runners-up were Miss Namure Victoria Ojioze from Edo State (Miss Earth Nigeria Air); Gwen Chioma Ifeanyieze from Enugu State (Miss Earth Nigeria Water); and Doris Uchechukwu Akueze, from Anambra State (Miss Earth Nigeria Fire) respectively.

Miss Earth Nigeria pageant, headed by Ibinabo, also a former beauty queen, debuted in 2004.

Last year’s edition of the Miss Earth Nigeria was won by Miss Maristella Okpala, who was crowned by her successor at the end of the event.
