As part of its steps to cut waste and reduce spending, the Federal government has set up a committee on how to reduce the number of aircraft on the presidential air fleet.
In a Twitter message Thursday, Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, said the committee would soon come up with report and suggestions on what become of those aircrafts as soon as possible.
“There is a government committee already in place working to reduce the number of aircraft in the presidential fleet,” Shehu tweeted.
“Some aircraft will be boarded, while some others returned to the (Nigerian) Air Force for operations,” he added.
There has been public outcry calling on President Buhari’s administration to cut down on the number of aircraft in the presidential fleet.
The FG has 10 aircraft on the Presidential fleet while over N2 billion has been expended on the maintenance of the presidential fleet since the coming of the Buhari administration.
The amount spent includes salaries and repayment of old debts.
