Posted on August 25, 2019

After his U.S. press tour, and before returning stateside, Burna Boy came home to celebrate the release of his most recent album, African Giant, with an exclusive listening party hosted by TRACE NAIJA and Martell on Wednesday, August 21.

The party was held at the newly constructed Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), Head Office/Jetty in Ikoyi.

DJ Sensei Lo got the crowd going, followed by DJ Spinall, who upped the energy by welcoming the African Giant himself who arrived on the black carpet by boat.

Before moving to the current album, DJ Spinall opened with Burna’s deep cuts and classics.

By the time he reached African Giant, the audience’s energy was at a fever pitch, while Burna Boy danced, sang and talked his way through the songs on the album.

Every song brought a different vibe, from “Anybody” through “Spiritual”, with guests having the time of their lives and singing each song line for line.

Including drinks courtesy of Martell, Zanku lessons from Burna himself, and guests spraying Burna and each other with ‘Burna Bucks’ featuring the African Giant album artwork, the Lagos listening party was a befitting homecoming for the star who has been busy establishing his international presence.

Burna Boy’s parents and grandparents, Tiwa Savage, Sound Sultan, Toke Makinwa, Sunday Are, Seyi Shay, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Bovi and Zlatan were some of the special guests who welcomed Burna home and celebrated the release of his well-received project.

The event was proudly sponsored by TRACE NAIJA, Boom Play, Fidelity Bank, Martell, Pepsi and House of Lunettes.
