A 25-year old lady, Oluwatosin Oladeji, may have messed herself up at a super store in Lagos, where she went to steal women’s wears and was reportedly caught in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at No. 48 Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos, at the store belonging to one Benjamin Maduka.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Oluwatosin, went to the store and pretended as if she wanted to buy some women’s wears, perfume and wrist watch valued at N77,000. After picking the items, she said wanted to pay through online transfer from her phone and the owner obliged her.
However, after the items were packaged for her and she was expected to transfer the money from her phone as she promised, she did not do so. Having sensed that the owner of the store was busy attending to another customer, she carried the items, sneaked out of the store and tried to escape.
She was trailed, apprehended and asked to transfer the money. It was then she revealed that she had no such amount in her account, obviously showing that she went there to steal the items.
She was handed over to the Police at Ikeja Division and after interrogation, she was found culpable.
The Police later charged her before the Ogba Magistrates Court for obtaining under false pretence and stealing the items.
She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Ishola Samuel, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Miss A.I. Abina, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 15th October, 2019.
