The Senator representing Anambra North, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah, has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for responding swiftly to the plight of her affected constituents by sending the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar-Farouq and NEMA, to assess the level of losses from the recent fire outbreak in Onitsha. The Senator said she remains immensely grateful for Mr President’s directive to NEMA to make available relief materials including food and non food items to the affected population of the market, who have lost everything to the fire but also asked that a Federal Fire Service be stationed in Onitsha seeing that the Main Market, which is the largest in sub saharan Africa, serves as a major hub for exports to other regional markets and Onitsha indeed, is one of the oldest cosmopolitan towns in West Africa.
