The Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE), Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme), has assured women under the aegis of Immigration Officers Wives Association (IMMOWA) Anambra State Command that they will be trained under the CAFÉ Skills Acquisition Training and Empowerment programme.
Mrs. Obiano gave the assurance to members of the association Tuesday evening when they paid her courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge at Amawbia.
Welcoming the Immigration Officers wives, Mrs.  Obiano expressed appreciation for the visit, which she noted was the first of its kind since her husband became Governor and pledged to train their members.
According Mrs. Obiano, “I have heard your requests but I can’t speak on things that concern the government which I advise you to channel appropriately through your Comptroller. However, I assure of you of assistance in the area of training of your members under my NGO’s Skills training and Empowerment programme which has so far been extended to over 4,700 women, indigent widows and youths. Once you get the list of interested members to my Office, we will include them in our next batch of trainees”.
Mrs. Obiano told members of IMMOWA that her passion is in helping the needy stressing that her preference is to teach people how to fish rather than giving them fish. She commended the women for banding together for common good and urged them to continue to be peaceful residents in Anambra State.
Earlier, Comptroller of Immigration, Anambra State Command, Mrs. Tochukwu Agwai, in her remarks thanked Mrs. Obiano for receiving the association in audience and extended the good wishes of the Comptroller General of Immigration through her to the Governor and people of Anambra State for having the best security architecture in the country which has made the state a safe haven.
Earlier in her address, Secretary of IMMOWA, Mrs. Florence Onwubuya, explained that they are an association of the spouses of the Nigerian Immigration Service, whose aim is to support their husbands who are busy providing security in different parts of the country by engaging in skills trainings to sustain their families. She expressed the appreciation of her members to Mrs. Obiano and also commended her for improving the lot of the less privileged and widows through her NGO, CAFÉ.
