Suspected Immigrant terrorists
Police detectives in Lagos, Nigeria have arrested and paraded 87 illegal immigrants suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists group.
The suspects were paraded on Thursday by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni at the State Command in Ikeja, Lagos.
The suspects were arrested at the Waterways close to Nigeria Boarder in Badagry area of Lagos State by Police detectives on surveillance operations.
The suspects comprise mainly male youths between the ages of 18 and 22 which gave the Police intelligence officers reasonable suspicion that they have a mission to accomplish.
Our correspondent gathered that most of them don’t speak English except French and was unable to communicate to journalists during the parade.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspects were brought to the Police Command with four commercial buses which later took them away to the Immigration office for further interrogation as directed by police commissioner Owoseni.
While parading the suspects, Owoseni reiterated that it was through the police intelligence that the suspects were apprehended in the Waterways and they were unable to disclose their mission in Nigeria.
He clarified and said though their movement was suspicious, they would still conduct investigations to ascertain if they are actually terrorists or not.
He said after the parade, the suspects will be handed over to the immigration for further investigation.
One of the suspects who identified himself as Comparoure Musa who could barely speak English said he was from Burkina Faso and was going to Gabon to hustle.
Though he did not explain the kind of hustle, other suspects were also unable to explain clearly their mission either in Nigeria or elsewhere.
Musa said he did not know other suspects because he only met them in the boat before they arrived Nigeria and arrested.
