Man, 46, Arrested For Sleeping With Girl, 10

Police operatives from Ilasan Division in Lagos have arrested a 46-year old man, Emmanuel Akpan Ime, for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 10-year old girl in sex and defiling her in the process.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in Igbara area of Jakande Estate, Lekki area of Lagos, where they reside.

It was gathered the mother of the girl had entrusted her to her friend, who lives at uncompleted building at Igbara Jakande area of Lekki, Lagos, where Ime took the advantage of the victim; reportedly raped and warned the girl not to tell anybody what happened.
However, the girl’s mother, identified as Mary, observed that her daughter was behaving funny and she probed further only to find out that while she was away two Sundays ago precisely 17th November, 2019, something happened to her.
She probed further and the girl revealed that the perpetrator, Emmanuel Ime, had taken advantage and molested her when the mother was not around.
The matter was reported to the Police and the perpetrator was arrested. He was later released by the Police which prompted the mother of the victim to complain bitterly that there had been series of threats from the perpetrator, his wife and family.
She said that when she complained at the station, nothing was done about her complaints rather the IPO, Inspector Kola, was said to have taken side with the perpetrator and his family.
She cried for help from all and sundry lamenting that no child deserved to be sexually molested and traumatized. Hence assistance came from social workers and Emmanuel Ime was eventually rearrested. He later taken to Igbosere Magistrates Court to be arraigned for statutory rape which attracts several years of imprisonment if the Court tries and finds him guilty over the alleged offence.
However, Ime was not arraigned when he was brought to Court because the Court did not sit on Friday. He was taken back to the Police Station, where he was detained to be arraigned on Monday as P.M.EXPRESS gathered.
