“Whatever that affects one directly affects all indirectly” – Martin Luther.

Civil Liberty Organization, CLO, Anambra State branch, most heartily and graciously commemorated the World Human Rights Day.

In a release signed by Vincent Ezekwueme, Chairman, Chidi Mba, Secretary, Nicholas Amoke, PRO, the CLO said, “It is commendable, unfortunate, absurd and detestable that as we celebrate human rights day globally, one week ago human rights of some patriotic, assiduous and gallant officers and some civilians lost their lives in despicable, horrendous Oraifite horrible incidence”.

“Let us observe one minute silence in honour and respect for the departed compatriots. May God accept their souls and give the bereaved fortitude to bear the irreparable and irreplaceable lost. It is imperative to note that no evil done to any man will escape the scrutiny of history and divine retributive justice. CLO condemns the dastardly and horrendous act and plead for discreet investigation and prosecution of perpetrators to act as deterrent to others and discourage future occurrence of such despicable act.”

Human life is sacred and the sanctity must be respected and secured. Anyone who kills innocent person will lose not only his life but anything he is and he has. Pertinently, this year’s theme is ‘Stand For Your Human Rights’. Do you stand for your Human Rights? If we collectively stand for human rights and governments establish human rights desks, social justice will be the order of the day and our way of life. Its motive is to eradicate human rights abuses, poverty, violation of civil, economic, political and social rights of citizenry. It is of prime importance for us to spare no effort to stand for our rights and that of others and to safeguard and lives for it.”

“Human Rights is inalienable, divine and natural rights we inherited just because we are human beings. CLO calls on all tiers of governments to respect and uphold the inalienable rights of the citizenry as sanctity and sacred, protect and safeguard as its primary function and for citizens to obeys the constitution and constituted authority.”

CLO reminded the government and church leaders to order for 3 days praying and fasting to seek the face of God and intervention in the state affairs in view of incessant fire disaster and roads accidents, Ozubulu massacre and recent Oraifite despicable incidence. CLO said as it equally welcome with gladness autonomy to local governments and scrapping of states electoral commission, efforts should be made for its prompt implementations. The group reiterated calls for conduct of local governments election as since inception of the current democratic governance it was only once that local government election was conducted in Anambra State.

“We graciously appeal to Federal Government and Anambra State Government to expedite actions aggressively on trunk A and B roads in the state in view of fast approaching Christmas celebration and New Year. Government should ensure its policy abolishing illegally revenue agents is strictly observed. CLO reiterate its call on political gladiators to think about next generation and not next election and be civil; they should appeal to their supporters to stop casting aspersions on their opponents and it is too early to campaign for 2021. CL0 appeals to the Minister of Power to look in the direction of crazy bills by EEDC and direct to them to provide pre-paid meters while stop collection of bills for services not rendered. Let us stand for our rights and that of others as desiderata towards enthronement of social justice and egalitarian society devoid of any provenance” the CLO concluded.
