Igbo Group Honours Performing Police Officers

“Police is our friend; we must all collectively assist, cooperate and encourage them to perform better on their primary duties of the Protection of lives and property in the society.”

This was the submission of the President of Igbo socio-cultural organisation known as Igbo Buru Otu, High Chief Chika C. Nwokedi, in Lagos during the 3rd anniversary and thanksgiving of the association held at White House Event Centre, Ijegun area of Lagos.
The event witnessed the presence of important dignitaries where some performing Police officers were given recognition awards of excellence.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that some Police officers were on Thursday rewarded for their efforts and outstanding performance in their various areas of operation both in Lagos and outside.
Some Police the officers honoured were AIG Alagbon, Muritala Mani, SIB boss, CSP Vera Emeh, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, CSP Oyin Frances, SP Ayodele Arogbo and many others.

In his welcome address, Chief Nwokedi stated that the association is not a politically oriented organisation but an organisation whose aims and objective are to influence human lives positively for unity among Igbo and indeed the society at large. He said the event was to thank God for a successful year and to launch their NGO. Nwokedi enjoined all to partner with the new NGO to continue to change lives especially the less privileged in the society.


Chief Nwokedi said it was the resolve of the association to encourage people who have distinguished themselves in their different areas and service to society; not for money but service to God and humanity including the officers of the Nigeria Police.
He revealed that the association have renovated and refurbished Police stations, repaired their vehicles and other services in the past in order to ensure that the Nigeria Police perform their duty better.
He said the association has extended and rendered assistance to other security agencies and the poor in the society.

The event was colourful with the entertainment of cultural dance by women of the association and the official release of an album in the name of the association by a popular musician known as Uncle Sam from the Southeast.
