Due to the recent upsurge in Coronavirus Index around the globe, a party chieftain under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has made recommendations on how Nigeria can curb the spread of the virus that is ravaging the country.

Prince (Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, a PDP chieftain, while reacting to the containment effort of the Lagos State government, said that the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has tried his best but what he had expected from him was quite different.

“What I’ve been expecting from him is that our inter-state borders with other state should be shut and properly monitored by not allowing people coming in and out of the state without proper screening because some people are coming from far places like Ogun State; some might even be coming from outside the country (African countries) who might have been exposed to the virus” Ewenla said.

However, while reacting to social gathering enforcement, Ewenla said the total banning of social gathering and markets were 100% okay and he is satisfied with that because the virus we are talking about is a deadly one.

Furthermore, while reacting to the former President Goodluck Jonathan’s view on COVID-19 combat, he said what he was expecting from our leaders was for them to support the Federal Government in funding the health sector so that the scourge can be totally eradicated from the country.

“Just like Atiku, who was a PDP presidential candidate in our last election, donated N50million as an intervention fund to combat Coronavirus, I’m expecting the same from politicians and religious leaders” he said.

While reacting to stay-at-home order, Ewenla said, “I think the Federal Government should fund its citizens through their Bank Verification Number (BVN) because staying at home without work is not easy”.

“I’ll enjoin us all to stay safe, stay indoors and practice excellent hygiene and also stay healthy, contact your loved ones and check up on them and God will see us through this hard time” he concluded.
