The Lagos State Government has shut the popular strip club, TLox, after 39 suspects were arrested  for contravening the stay-at-home and social distancing order by the government over Covid-19.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the officers of LASEPA stormed the club located at 6 Awori Street, Ilepo Bus Stop, Egbeda area of Lagos on Tuesday, sealed up the place and left.

The residents commended the Police and State Government for their prompt action to serve as deterrent to others who would want to violate the directive in order to prevent the spread of the virus in the State.

While the Government and the Police were battling to prevent the spread of the virus in the state, the club management ignored every directive on social distancing and continued their business by organizing Ladies Night, where ladies strip for their customers.

While the club was on, Police operatives from Idimu Division, Lagos, led by female DPO, CSP Adaora Dimaka, stormed the place at about 1.30am and arrested 39 persons watching nude ladies and recovered some condoms from them during the Covid-19 lockdown.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who said that the suspects were in Police custody and will be prosecuted.

He said that the DPO, CSP Dimaka, received credible intelligence on 24th April, 2020, about activities there. She then mobilized, led her officers in the early hours of the morning and stormed the place. She and her team arrested the suspects, detained them before they were moved to the SCIID Panti, Yaba, Lagos for the alleged offence.
He said that the suspects violated the directive of social distancing and stay-at-home order as directed by both the Federal and State Government and will be prosecuted for the alleged offence.
DSP Elkana stated that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, had also warned those spreading fake news to desist from doing so as the Police have commenced investigations to fish out such persons and they will equally be prosecuted for false information.

He also stated that the Police had been working day and night to ensure that the spread of the Coronavirus was curtailed in the State for residents to live their normal lives through intelligence gathering and it was such information that led to the arrest of the suspects at the strip club.

It was also gathered that the Police boss has ordered that the club be shut over their conduct during this period of lockdown, which might have led to the closure of the place over the contravention of the laws.
