The Igbo traditional ruler in Ejigbo, Eze Ndigbo, Eze Alex Nwoye, has disassociated himself from what transpired which led to the emergence of Hon. Jude Idimogu as the new Apex Leader of Igbo in Lagos State Chapter of APC.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Eze Nwoye made the clarification during the courtesy visit by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, in his Palace in Ejigbo, Lagos. The youths visited in order to thank him over the palliatives he gave to the youths in the area during the lockdown.
On the issue in APC, Eze Nwoye said that the traditional rulers led by Eze Christian C. Nwachukwu, who were invited to Ohanaeze Secretariat, were mostly 80% of his loyalists, stressing that his raising Hon. Jude Idimogu’s hand up was intended for Idimogu to meet and work or discuss with the already known apex leader, Engr. Joe Igbokwe. He said maybe by Idimogu’s instructions, Eze Nwachukwu and loyalists went to the media to declare him as the new apex leader of Ndigbo in APC without further consultations.
Nwoye stated that he does not want to be involved in the issue and has advised that it was better for the APC party leaders in Lagos State to move in and settle the matter for them.
“If the issue of changing an existing leadership has to be done, it must be discussed in a transparent manner where interested parties must be carried along. That’s the arguments going on the issue.”
“Yes, I have told everyone how I was mislead into that mess, that’s why I suggested for Hon. Jude Idimogu if possible to privately meet with Engr. Joe Igbokwe for discussions and amicable settlement for the betterment of Ndigbo in APC Lagos State.”
He reiterated his earlier stand that the Igbo need peace in Lagos and will only associate himself with anything that will bring the needed peace for the interest of Igbo sons and daughters.
“I don’t support any illegal arrangement, both sides should ensure peace. Hon. Jude Idimogu is an elected House Member but the party has been in existence before he joined, let them make peace” Eze Nwoye said.
Speaking to the youths that paid him visit, Nwoye thanked them and promised to always assist the youths in Ejigbo whenever he was called upon to do so.
