Ex-West Africa Idols Star, Eric Arubayi Dies

Nigerian Gospel singer and West African Idols star Eric Arubayi is dead.

The singer died on Saturday at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital.

Eric, in his mid-30s, reportedly fell sick during the week and was rushed to the hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Chinonso and a child.

The singer and wife celebrated their third wedding anniversary in December.

His wife, Chinonso, works as a content producer at Spice TV Channel and is also a make-up vlogger.

Although unconfirmed, many reports suggest that he complained of malaria before ending up at the hospital.

In 2007, Eric emerged 3rd runner-up at the first edition of West African Idol singing competition which produced Timi Dakolo as winner and Omawumi Mgbele as first runner-up.

Eric was well loved by all, beyond his commercial career as a musician, he was a popular worship leader at the Pastor Paul Adefarsin’s House on the Rock Church.

He also shared his music worship ministry across the nation whenever he performed.
