LASUTH Department Of Medicine Donates Scrubs To Doctors

The Department of Medicine, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), has donated scrubs to doctors of all cadres in the department to ensure compliance with guidelines of Infection Prevention Control on safe healthcare practices and associated infections, especially in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presenting the donated items to the management, the Head of the Medicine Department, Dr. Adebowale Adekoya, said the donation of the scrubs was also to support the hospital in its efforts to curb the Coronavirus pandemic and the need to ensure that hospital protocols are strictly observed.

“Plans for the provision of these scrubs had been in the pipeline even before the pandemic and we are glad that it has become a reality. I recognise the effort of the immediate past head of the department, Dr. Jumoke Oshinaike who set the ball rolling even before l took over the helms of affairs”, he said.

While acknowledging that the medical department has enjoyed the goodwill of the management, he declared that the staff would do everything in their capacity to render necessary support to the Hospital Management.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo expressed appreciation of the effort and initiative taken by the department to improve service delivery, describing the kind gesture as very important in the battle against infectious diseases, especially the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prof. Fabamwo was elated that the department is still forging ahead in the strides of the founding Professors, who were meticulous and methodological in their approach to manning the department, hoping that other departments will emulate the initiative of the medical department.

The Director of Clinical Services and Training, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa also commended the donors and encouraged them to set more examples for other departments to follow.

Representatives of the Medicine Department of LASUTH at the ceremony included Prof. Awobusuyi, Prof. Yomi Ogun and Dr. Jumoke Oshinaike among others.
