A 38-year old self-confessed kidnapper Joseph Omoni has been arrested and confessed that he had been involved in so many kidnapping operations from which he had made so much money to acquire property.

The suspect also said he cannot recount the number of people he had killed in the ‘line of duty’ because kidnapping is a serious operation which required sophistication and heavy weaponry to succeed.

He revealed that they are many as members of the kidnappers’ gang coordinated by a leader said to be at large now.

Omoni, who lives in Century Village, Ogijo Town, Ogun State from where he operates his criminal activity, is a native of Ajapa Community in Ese-Odo LGA of Ondo State.

He was arrested by the Intelligent Response Team, IRT Operatives in his house inside the Century Village following the killing of three victims during the abduction of  Secretary of Isheri North Estate who was released recently after a ransom was paid.

It was gathered that after the incident, the police intensified efforts to arrest those criminal elements behind the act.

The efforts paid off on 14 February when a follow up by IRT with technical intelligence support lead to the arrest of Omoni.

According to the police, the suspect confessed and made more startling revelations about their criminal activities.

He revealed that he was among the gang involved in the 19 December 2016 kidnapping operation along Ikorodu-Mile 12 Road where Nollywood actress Aisha Ali-Balogun and one other person were killed with nine persons including children were kidnapped.

Omoni also confessed that he participated in the Nigerian-Turkish School children kidnapping operation where he said he got N2 million which he used to buy tiles, windows among other accessories used to complete his house in Century Village in Ogijo.

And for the Isheri Estate Secretary kidnapping operation, Omoni said he only got N250,000 as his own share after the operation.

He explained that he got such paltry amount because the ransom was not much and they were many who shared from the money.

Meanwhile, the police have identified two other houses inside Century Village built with ransom made from kidnapping operation by the suspect and one of his gang members known as ‘Chairman’.

They have been sealed off while police are intensifying serious efforts to arrest the remaining gang members .
