A 48-year old man, Isaac Akin, who had allegedly been sleeping with his biological daughter for the past six years has been arrested and charged before the Court for defilement in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Akinlagbe Street, Alapere area of Lagos where they reside.
The suspect, Akin, was said to have started molesting the victim from when she was 12 and continued till this year when the victim could not hold it any longer and she exposed him.
He was said to have first started by inserting his finger into her private part to widen it before he eventually penetrated her and warned her never to tell any one about it.

When she eventually exposed him, the matter was then reported to the Police at Alapere Division; Akin was arrested and detained at the Station for interrogation over the act.

After interrogation, he was found culpable as he reportedly confessed.
He was later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
When the matter came up at the Court, his plea was not taken following a motion by the prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, who asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubunje, ordered Akin to be remanded in Correctional Centre without an option of bail.
The Court then directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while Akin will remain in custody pending the outcome of DPP’s advice.

The matter was adjourned till 9th September, 2020, for report of the DPP’s advice to be available in order to determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court for trial over jurisdiction.
