They’ll Not Succeed In Cutting Igbo-Yoruba Relationship – Eze Nwachukwu Assures

The Chairman of ethnic groups and Ezendigbo Lagos State, Eze Christian Nwachukwu, has stated that the relationship between the Igbo and Yoruba had come a long way insisting that detractors will not succeed in cutting the relationship in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Eze Nwachukwu stated this during the stakeholders meeting held at Isolo organized by the traditional ruler of Isolo kingdom, HRM Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka on Monday.

Eze Nwachukwu, who attended the event with the leaders of other ethnic groups living in Isolo namely, Igbo Hausa, Nupe, South South and Yoruba, said that the ethnic groups had been living together for several years peacefully and it is not now that external forces will incite them to fight among themselves.

He noted that the Nigerian youths had genuine cause to protest, which was going on peacefully for days before it turned violent, which must be discouraged by all.

Eze Nwachukwu urged the Government to look into the grievances of the Nigerian youths and address them so that peace will return to the society.

Earlier, Oba Agbabiaka explained that the meeting was summoned to address the  lingering crisis which led to the destruction of properties across the States of Nigeria and calls for tribal war among the ethnic groups who had been living peacefully in the State.

Oba Agbabiaka debunked the  directive given to the Igbo to leave Lagos and other Yoruba land, saying that the person who gave the notice is not among the Yoruba leaders nor traditional ruler in Yoruba land and as such should be disregarded.
He thanked the leaders for the different roles they played to ensure that destruction of properties was not carried out in Isolo Kingdom noting that the leaders will continue to engage the youths in the area to shun violence and live peacefully among themselves in Isolo Kingdom.

In the same vein, the Chairman of Igbo United Stakeholders in Lagos State, Chief Dixon Opara, noted that the action of the youths, which led the destruction of properties in the State, was due to neglect of the youths over the years.
He noted that the youths are hungry because they do not have jobs and vented their anger by causing violence and looting during the protest.He called the Government to quickly address the agitation of the youths by looking into their demands and ensure that peace returned in the society.
