Anambra 2021: Those Who May Never Succeed Obiano

Ambition is free and indeed the inalienable right of every human being regardless of class, creed or intelligence quotient. In a Political layman’s terms you can simply say, “anyone who votes can be voted for”.

It is this assumption that should guide our appreciation of the Democratic process. Especially one that allows eligible citizens the right to aspire to leadership. However, it is not enough to aspire. One must work to possess the basic ingredients of a thoroughbred leadership this is where the wheats get separated from the chaffs.

APGA, as a party rooted in the ideals of democracy, recognizes the right of every individual to aspire. What it adds to this debate, which of course remains her unique selling point, is a rigorous process that brings the best of us to lead the rest of us.

Anambra has long completed her cycle of bad leadership. She is at the phase where minimum standards have been set as to who must lead this unique collective of high flyers.

It is nice that as the days unfolds different persons are jostling to lead. Including those with poor credentials and uninspiring track records. What is sad is how some of these elements go about dropping names of persons who neither know them nor believe in their failed competencies.

We are in the era of phoney support groups and induced supporters. These things are not unusual, they are part of the vibes necessary to make sense of the season. Fundamentally, it is not a race for the “money bags”, as Anambra is not for sale. It is not a race for clout chasers, nor is it the auction hub of godfathers.

As we grind down to 2021, we may not be certain about who succeeds Obiano. What is very sure is that we know those who may never. And this is for reasons that we would dissect in the days ahead.

In the meantime, we welcome all aspirants on board. We hope no one threatens to sink the State ship after a deserved, yet colossal loss.
