This may not the best of times for Police officers at Area D Command Headquarters in Mushin, Lagos, after a one-man squad armed robber stormed the Command, robbed some officers of huge sums of money kept inside safe and escaped.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that some officers came to work in the morning, discovered that their locked safe was burgled at night and the money kept there was stolen including some items.

How the robber managed to gain entrance into the premises of the Command was still a surprise to many because some officers were stationed for night duty on the fateful day.

It was not also certain where the officers in question got the money that was stolen because there has been no official statement from the Lagos Public Relations Officer, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The alleged burglary caused serious embarrassment to the senior officers at Area D Command including the Commander who ordered immediate investigation over the burglary.

Some top intelligence officers then moved into action and arrested a 32-year old man, Femi Omotayo, in connection with the burglary and theft at the Station.

He was subsequently charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court before the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Kushanu.

The Police alleged that Omotayo on 20th October, 2020, at the premises of Area D Command, located at 88 Itire Road, Mushin, broke and entered into offices at night to commit felony.

They also alleged that Omotayo forcefully opened a locked safe with plier and stole cash of N120,000, mobile phones, handcuff and key valued belongings of one Inspector Fadiya Abiodun and some money belonging to Sergeant Olawale Salau and escaped.

The suspect, Omotayo, was arraigned and remanded in Correctional Centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions despite the fact that he denied and pleaded not guilty over the alleged offence.
