Lagos Govt To Convert Igbogbo MIni Stadium To Full Multipurpose Stadium

Plans are underway to convert the Igbogbo Mini Stadium in Ikorodu, Lagos State to a full multipurpose sports facility in furtherance the campaign promises of the indefatigable Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to uplift the socioeconomic development of the State.

This was revealed when the Management of the Lagos State Sports Commission led by the duo of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Sola Aiyepeku and the Director General, Mr. Oluwatoyin Gafaar were on a working visit to Ikorodu to inspect some of the Sporting Facilities in the Community.

Aiyepeku who was glad to see that Igbogbo Mini Stadium coming back in the nearest future, said that the vision of the Government is to open up every part of the State so that the Youth will be fully engaged. He added that when the Stadium is put into use, people will see the handwork of Government in Sports in Ikorodu and its environs.

To the Director General Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Oluwatoyin Gafaar, the focus of the Commission is centred on school Sports. He further disclosed that the long term plan of the Government is to convert Igbogbo Mini Stadium to standard one with many other Sporting facilities such as Beach Soccer field, 5 A-side Soccer field and other multi purpose Sporting facilities

“At the Igbogbo mini Stadium, the Government is proposing to rebuild it to a standard multipurpose stadium, when completed, It will improve social life of the people of Ikorodu,” Gafaar said.

The Team also visited the Ikorodu Youth Center at Ita-elewa area where facilities such as 5 A-side football field, Basketball, Volleyball and Netball field with spectators stand as well as space for board games, facilitated by Hon. Babajimi Benson, representing Ikorodu at the Federal House of Representatives.

The Executive Chairman reiterated the fact that putting the space into use in a metropolitan city as Lagos is very good development.


” This huge investment is commendable. This is self sustainable. With many sports facilities within this small space, it will help promote Sports. We have more younger people in the Board of Lagos State Sports Commission who have management experience combined with Sports. We thank Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for this reconstituted Board. It is all-inclusive for everybody that live around Ikorodu. This shows that the government is involved, and the Community is involved,” Aiyepeku said.
