Yinka Odumakin: Comrade Adewale Leads Igbo Speaking Community On Condolence Visit

As tributes continue to pour in for the late human right activist cum politician, Mr Yinka Odumakin, his wife Dr. Joe Oke-Odumakin received in audience the leadership of Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State headed by their President General Chief Sunday Udeh, who came to pay a condolence visit on Thursday 15th April, 2021.

The Executive Members of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State were led by Comrade Ayodele Adewale, an active player and former Mobilisation Officer of the Pro National Conference Organization (PRONACO) under the leadership of late Chief Anthony Enahoro (CFR), late Dr. Beko Ransom Kuti and Prof. Wole Soyinka.

The Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State through their President General Chief Sunday Udeh paid their respect to the widow and family of Comrade Yinka Odumakin. Drawing from the bible, he offered words of confirm and appealed to Dr. Joe Oke-Odumakin to have faith and take the occurrence as destined by Almighty GOD.

He described the late Afenifere spokesman as someone who fought for true federalism via activism and agitated for a better Nigeria. He was steadfast, committed, firm and resolute in fighting for a just cause, Chief Udeh opined. ‘We can only pray that GOD Almighty forgive his sins and grant him paradise’.

Chief Sunday Udeh also appreciated Comrade Ayodele Adewale whom he described as a highly detribalized leader, a brother and friend to the Igbo people who has always stood by them and ensured he led the delegation to the residence of Comrade Odumakin.

In response, Dr Joe Oke-Odumakin thanked the group for acting as a face of courage to her at a time like this and offered glowing tributes to her late husband saying he will forever remain in her heart. Stating that despite his views on national and political issues, he respected the opinion of others.

She also thanked a fellow Comrade in Struggle, Comrade Ayodele Ayodele for making the visit possible and standing by the Odumakin family during this period.

Prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the late renowned activist and NADECO front liner Mr Odumakin as a condolence letter to the family was handed over to his  widow, Dr Joe Oke-Odumakin.

Executive members of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos (ISCL) present were the Secretary General Engr Chuks Odimegwu, State Treasurer Chief Mrs Ngozi Chiwunko, State Financial Secretary Chief Mrs Jessica Ndupu, Local Government Coordinator Hon. Chika Ononiwu, Welfare Officer Mrs Nnenna Eluwa, V.P Imk indigenes in Lagos Chief Tony Okereke, V.P Abia indigenes in Lagos Sir Cyril Uchneye, Special Adviser to the President General on Security matters Elder Kenneth Uche Duru.
