Meanwhile, reigning champions Madagascar have become the final team to qualify for the second edition of the CAF Beach Soccer Cup of Nations that Nigeria will take place between 13th and 18th December 2016.
Host Nigeria had earlier been joined by Egypt, Libya and Morocco who qualified following the withdrawal of Uganda, Liberia and Sudan respectively.
In the qualifying matches for the championship, played over the weekend, last year’s losing finalists Senegal saw off Cape Verde in the second leg in Dakar, after hammering their hosts 7-2 away in Sal Island. Cote d’Ivoire, semi finalists at the 2015 finals in Seychelles, completed a double over Tanzania.
Ghana dismissed Kenya 7-1 in Accra, in addition to a 10-3 spanking handed to the Kenyans in the first leg in Mombasa.
Cup holders Madagascar got the better of Mozambique and will be hoping to re-enact the great form they showed in defeating Senegal in the final in Seychelles last year.
