Posted on July 10, 2021

In preparation for their yearly UK Tourneys and trials, the Buruj technical crew drilled the boys to check their fitness level and mental toughness in playing two games at the same time consecutively.

GAME 1:BURUJ SA VS APEX FA

Both team started well on purpose in search for a breakthrough goal showcasing their skills. Apex Football Academy were held to a goalless draw by Buruj Sports Academy on a frustrating afternoon for the Buruj Boys at Gbagada Training Ground in which a lot of chances were missed between by both sides.

The four (4) new forwards James Narebor, Azeez Babatunde, Victor Udanyi and John Oguche, were on the run as they were welcomed with a friendly match test to ascertain their present level on the pitch, so that the technical department will be able to draft out their professional developmental plan in accordance with the laid down philosophy governing the affairs of the academy.

When the match started, there was an early territorial struggle, as both teams attempted to position themselves high up the pitch. Buruj Boy’s resulting high press caused Apex Football Academy a few issues during those opening exchanges as they found it difficult to stamp their authority on the game.

The new boys coming from different football background shined during the match but were unable to convert their chances to score a breakthrough goal for the team due to their novice state with other teammates, but with good rapport and relationship which would coexist aftermath.

The visitors proved no easy task against hard-working Buruj Boys, who are looking the best outlet to score a goal with their bursts forward on the ball after a clever turn on the edge of the box, but could not control his left-footed shot.

While Buruj Boys enjoyed more possession as the game went on, the relentless pressing from the visitor as soon as Buruj Boys moved the ball into midfield was making it very difficult for them to play, and some of that frustration came to the surface as Apex FA players were booked in the space of a minute.

Buruj Sports Academy finished the opening 45 minutes strongly, even as they had looked the most likely to score over the half.

At the opening of the second half both teams began on a good note working tirelessly in search of scoring their first goal, which was fruitless. However, the key question for the second half seemed to be whether the visitors could find a way to nullify Buruj Boy’s press or if they would run out of steam trying to maintain that workload.

Buruj Boys did their best to calm things down and return to the ascendancy for the last 10 minutes of play, but at full time the match ended 0 – 0.

Apex Football Academy had been craving for chances to play the Buruj Boys due to their high profiled standard but they were unable to score a goal.

The MD/CEO of Buruj Sports Academy was impressed with the attitude and good team spirit displayed by the visitors.
