An indigent woman, Mrs. Abumchukwu Patricia Ezinando, from Umubele village, Awka in Awka South LGA and her family are set to become proud owners of a standard 3-bedroom bungalow courtesy of the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife PhD.

Mrs. Ezinado, who currently lives in a mud and unbefitting building, is one of the beneficiaries of the second phase of housing projects facilitated by Ekwunife for some constituents who cannot afford decent roofs over their heads.

The Senator, who was represented at the building flag off held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, by a delegation of her project team led by the former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Lady Henrietta Agbata and Hon Ifeyinwa Chinwuko reiterated her commitment to the development of the zone through quality representation.

The beneficiary of the project, Mrs. Ezinando sang unto God in appreciation to Ekwunife and prayed for more upliftment and success as the Senator sojourns in the political sphere.

Speaking at the event, the immediate past Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Awka South LGA, Chief Emma Odum, described the grassroots friendly lawmaker as a symbol of effective and proper representation. He said that Ekwunife is a renowned lawmaker of high approval rating and a doyenne in the business of lawmaking.

Speaking further, Chief Odum said that the distinctiveness of the gesture means it has no political undertone, adding that it is not the first time Ekwunife has given shelter to the less privileged. According to him, the Senator had a few months ago commissioned 3-bedroom bungalows for a physically challenged woman, a blind man, widows and a number of indigent constituents.

On his part, Chief Mike Madueke, a stakeholder in the LGA, praised Ekwunife for what she has been doing for the less privileged in the state, describing her as a super performing Senator. He advised Ekwunife not to rest on her laurels, noting that he has known her as a lawmaker who positively touches the lives of constituents.

In their respective remarks, the former Secretary of Awka South LGA and Women leader of Awka ward V, Engr. Uche Anakwue and Mrs. Florence Chinwuko immensely thanked Ekwunife whom the duo described as a lawmaker who is committed to assisting the less privileged in the society.

Also present were the former deputy Chairman of Awka Ward V, Jonathan Okoye amongst others.
