Andy Uba Will Redefine The Meaning Of Empowerment

Posted on August 9, 2021

There is a growing consensus that youth unemployment is a ticking bomb which may explode without warning following a little spark. Anambra State is currently sitting on a heap of youth unemployment, which can be blamed for the spike in crime and criminality in the state. The absent-minded government of Willie Obiano has failed woefully to stem the tide of galloping unemployment and appear clueless on what to do.

Senator Emmanuel Andy Uba (Igwebuike), the Governorship flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has made it a cardinal plan of his restoration agenda when elected as Governor of Anambra State to revolve all developmental policies around the need to generate jobs for Ndi Anambra and most importantly to take as many young people as possible off the unemployment highway through clearly thought out empowerment schemes that will be evenly spread across the state.

In his Agro Revolution Plan for Anambra State, Senator Andy Uba identified the multiplier effect agriculture and agro allied industries has on jobs and wealth creation. Agriculture and agro allied industries will feature prominently as an avenue to give thousands of young Anambrarians sustainable empowerment. Senator Andy Uba will put modalities in place to grant seed funding to youths who are willing to go into agro allied cottage industries in addition to providing technical assistance to set up these cottage industries. This has the potential to unlock a whole new sector in the Anambra economy.

Senator Andy Uba administration will also give premium attention to vocational training in order to skill up our people. Vocational centers with state of the art facilities and equipment for acquisition of various skills will be set up in each of the senatorial zones. The trainings will be comprehensive which will include fashion and design, catering, making of jewelry and ornaments, various types of welding, tiling, landscaping and interior decorations, aluminum works, carpentry, local fabrication of equipment, electrical works, electronic and phone repairs, solar panel installations and repairs etc.

At the end of the training period, which will vary depending on the particular skill, the trainees will have access to free start-up tools and grants to become independent. They will also be eligible to access zero interest loans from an SME Fund that would be established. The Senator Andy Uba administration will go further by patronizing the empowered entrepreneurs where possible as a means to empower them more.

Senator Andy Uba is not just going to prioritize empowerment schemes for Ndi Anambra, he will redefine the meaning of youth empowerment. A vote for Senator Andy Uba and APC in the November 6 governorship election will herald the dawn of sustainable and long-term empowerment for Ndi Anambra especially our young people. Let us therefore come together and elect a governor that will make this a reality.
