Veteran Nollywood Actor, Dike Suspected To Have Died Over Covid-19 Complications

Following the confirmation of the death of Veteran Nollywood actor and Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Prince Ifeanyi Dike, it is in the news that he may have passed on as a result of complications occasioned by Covid-19.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Dike died on Friday at a hospital in the Gbagada area of Lagos State after battling with an illness for some weeks, which worsened and he reportedly slipped into coma for three days before he eventually died.He was said to have gone for transplant over kidney problems and have been living with it for over 10 years.

However, since the outbreak of Covid-19, according to his colleagues in the Nollywood industry, the late Dike was said to be managing his movement to avoid contacting the virus.

The illness worsened recently and he was taken to the hospital where he eventually died. Complications from Covid-19 were suspected but the autopsy report has not been disclosed by the family.
His death was confirmed by the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, who stated the death has thrown AGN into mourning.
Rollas revealed that Dike had been living on transplanted kidney for the last 10 years and though no medical report has been received, he stated it was most likely that the actor died from the kidney-related illness.
The circumstances, which led to his eventual death, prompted the suspicion that he likely may have died as a result of Covid-19 complications, which has killed many people across the globe.

The late Ifeanyi Dike, who hailed from Imo State, was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He graduated from Igbinedion University, Okada, where he achieved a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.His career as an actor started in 2012 when he starred in M-Net’s soap opera Tinsel. He appeared on Disney’s Desperate Housewives Africa, Ndani TV’s Gidi Up, MTV’s Shuga and BET’s Top Actor Africa.
The late Dike worked as Executive Content Creator for Nigerian Idol (Season 1 – 3) and has accumulated writing credits on local and international media. He has also written TV and screenplays.He made FAB magazine’s ‘Top 30 Nigerians Under 30’ list, Y! Magazine’s ‘Top 21 Under 21 Young Achievers’, Dynamix Youth Award for ‘Most Enterprising Student’ , and WOW magazine’s ’12 Most Powerful Creatives 25 and Under’.

He was married with children.
