Oyo State Govt Rolls Out Activities For 61st Independence Day

The Oyo State Government has concluded arrangements to celebrate the Nation’s 61st Anniversary.
The line up of events include a Match Past for the primary and secondary school students, voluntary organizations, military and para-military agencies and various unions at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba on Friday, 1st October, 2021 at 9.00am.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr. Oludele Oyadeyi made this disclosure in Ibadan.
He stated further that the theme of this year celebration is “Impact of Insecurity on the economic development of our nation”.
Mr. Oyadeyi remarked that the celebration is an ideal platform for national integration, hence the day is celebrated in all 36 States of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
He said further that the celebration commenced, Friday 24th September, 2021 with the Jumat Service at the Central Mosque, Oja Oba, adding that all Muslims faithful in Oyo State were expected to attend. The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, led the political office holders and government functionaries from the State Secretariat to the Central Mosque, Oja Oba, Ibadan.
Similarly, the Special Thanking Service held at the Cathedral of St. Peters, Aremo, Ibadan at 10.00am. The Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, led Christians, political office holders and top government functionaries to the church on Sunday 26th September, 2021.
The Permanent Secretary said further that other highlights of the programme on Friday includes Cycling Display, Cultural Display by the Oyo State Cultural Troupe and the Cultural Group of the Bishop Philips Academy Secondary School, Ibadan.
The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is billed to take the Match Past salute at the Independence Day Celebration.
In furtherance of the commitments of the State Government to commemorate year 2021 Independence Day Celebration, Quiz and essay competition will be organized at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Education, Secretariat Oyo State on Wednesday September, 29th 2021 at 10:00am.
Mr. Oyadeyi stated further that an Independence Walk will take place on Thursday 30th September, 2021. This mild physical exercise will involve political office holders, top government functionaries and all planning committee members in Oyo State.
The Permanent Secretary, however, pledged on behalf of the State Government that adequate security will be provided for the children and participants at the event.
He solicited the cooperation of parents and guardians to make their children and wards available for all the lined up activities for the week-long celebration.
