Aarebirin Hon Princess Dr Folashade Olabanji-Oba Prays For Ikorodu At 2024 Eluku Festival
Nigeria, known for its vibrant cultural festivals, showcases a rich tapestry of traditions across its states. While the famous Calabar Festival captures attention from December 1 to 31, Lagos State also boasts its own unique celebrations. Among these, the Eyo Festival stands out, symbolizing purity and cleanliness. However, Ikorodu, the third largest city in Lagos, is not left behind in this cultural display. Ikorodu hosts several festivals throughout the year, with the Eluku and Oga festivals being the most celebrated.
The 2024 Eluku Festival in Ikorodu, like previous years, has seen unique celebrations of love, peace and unity across the land.
The National Chairman, Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria ( ALGOVC) and Executive Vice-Chairman, Ikorodu LGA, Aarebirin Hon. Princess (Dr.) Folashade Olabanji-Oba. as an indigenous leader deeply rooted in her community’s traditions, recognises the importance of the Eluku Festival and chose to celebrate it this year by spending time at the Eluku Palace for spiritual rebirth.
During her visit, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba shared her intentions to vie for the Chairmanship of Ikorodu Local Government, marking the occasion with a heartfelt gesture.
The palace, led by the Olumale, warmly received her. While the Olumale emphasized the palace’s non-partisan stance, he assured that the palace supports leaders who genuinely intend to serve the people of Ikorodu.
The Olumale, acknowledged Aarebirin Hon. Princess Folashade’s visit as well-intentioned, offered prayers and supplications in acceptance.
Invoking the blessings of Olodumare (Almighty God), he prayed for her success, stating, “May your prayers reach the heavens without delay”.
The Olumale also extended his prayers for Nigeria, wishing for the nation’s flourishing and the restoration of its glory.
It is worthy of note that Aarebirin Hon Princess Dr Folashade Olabanji-Oba is truly a global impact Champion with lots of awards home and abroad.
She is Aare Yeye Omoluabi Agbaye, Aare Arewa Oodua, Aare Bobashelu of Orile Agege, Aare Yeye Wura of Ijesha , Aare Gbobaniyi Oro, Aare Yeye Taiyese and more. And she is forever proud of her rich cultural heritage.
In response, Aarebirin Hon Princess Dr Folashade Olabanji-Oba expressed her deep love and respect for the Eluku Festival and the Ikorodu community. She reiterated her commitment to Fortified Hope @ “Grow Ikorodu @ FolashadeOba” project, aligning it with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the THEMES plus agenda of H.E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State.
Aarebirin Hon Princess Dr Folashade also took the opportunity to honour and appreciate greatly the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, HRH Oba Kabiru Shotobi, with prayers for his continued reign, prosperity, and progress in Ikorodu kingdom.
The Eluku Festival, has indeed continuously opens new chapters in the cultural history of Ikorodu, blending tradition with the forward-looking aspirations of its leaders.
