An embittered housewife, Mrs. Mercy Joe, has dragged her husband, Joe, before the Customary Court sitting in Nyanya, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over abandonment and denial of sex for the past six years.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the embittered woman, Mrs. Mercy, made the allegation in a divorce petition she filed against her husband, Joe, asking the Court to dissolve their marriage so that she will move on with her life.
She lamented that her husband, Joe, abandoned and denied her sex for those years and secretly got married to another woman.
While praying before the Court for the dissolution of their marriage, Mrs. Mercy alleged that her embattled husband abandoned their only child for over six years and did not take care of his family.
“He secretly got married to another woman. I have been taking care of our daughter and paying bills as he had equally denied me conjugal rights as his wife.”
“I am not forcing him to come back to me. I want him to take full responsibility for our only child. I pray the Court to grant me divorce, custody of our child and an order compelling him to pay our daughter’s fees and N50,000 monthly for upkeep,” she said.
However, the respondent, Mr. Joe, was not present in Court but sent a letter consenting divorce.
He also accepted the payment of some amount of money for upkeep but that it is only when the child is on holiday he would do so.
The Presiding Judge, Doocivir Yawe, adjourned the matter for judgment.
