Abortion: Fake Doctors Docked For Cutting-off Woman’s Intestine

Two fake doctors, Onifade Adeyemi, 55 and Elder Atobalo Ademola, 58 have been arrested over their alleged involvement in carrying out an illegal abortion on a pregnant woman, Elizabeth Ugo and ended up cutting off the woman’s womb and intestine.
The suspects were arrested by a team of investigators from State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID at Panti,Yaba over the incident.
Though the incident happened in Ikotun area where both the victim and the suspects reside, the matter was transferred to SCIID for further investigation.
The suspects have been charged before Apapa Magistrate’s court with attempted murder under the Criminal code.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Elizabeth was three months pregnant and wanted to terminate the pregnancy for undisclosed reason. Adeyemi, one of the suspects, then took her to Ademola where they reportedly embarked on surgical operation on her to terminate the unwanted baby.
They reportedly inserted scissors through her vagina to her womb and forcefully terminated the pregnant.
In the process of carrying out the abortion, they also cut off her intestine and she started bleeding uncontrollable.
In an attempt to stop the bleeding, they also gave her a substance suspected to be poison and she drank and her condition became more complicated and she fainted.
She was rushed to a Lagos General Hospital where the doctors are battling to save her life.
The matter was reported to the police at Ikotun division who arrested the suspects and transferred the matter to SCIID for further investigation.
During the investigation, the police discovered that they were fake doctors who have caused severe damage to the victim on her reproductive organ.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. Titus Abolarinwa granted them bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties.
The court ordered that the sureties must show evidence of tax payments and mean of livelihood.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was further adjourned till 10 October 2016.
