Accountant, 28, Docked For Swindling Company Of N7m With Fake Bank Alert

A 28-year old female Accontant with Integrated Asset Limited at No. 117, Isolo Road, Ikotun, Lagos, has been arrested and charged for allegedly swindling the company to the tune of  over N7. 5m with fake bank alert. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Isolo Road, Ikotun, Lagos, where she was employed as company’s Auditor and accountant.

 

According to the Police, the suspect credited customers with the money in question and collected same without remitting the money to the company’s account. She went further to present a false account to the company and it was discovered by the management.

 

Thus, the matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division. She was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

 

After interrogation, the Police found her culpable and charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Olatunji Temitope ‘F’, while working as the Auditor / Accontant with Integrated Asset Limited at No. 117, Isolo Road, Ikotun, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did fraudulently steal Seven Million Five Hundred and Eighty Seven Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Naira (N7, 587,780) by crediting customers and collected same without remitting the money to the company’s accounts and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 280, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, Olatunji Temitope ‘F’, as an Auditor /Accountant with Integrity Asset Limited at No. 117, Isolo Road, Ikotun, Lagos, in the Aforesaid Magisterial District, did fraudulently present false account, which you embezzled the sum of Seven Million Five Hundred and Eighty Seven Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Naira (N7, 587,780) and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 335/337, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

 

COUNT III: “That you, Olatunji Temitope ‘F’, on same date, time and place, in the Aforesaid Magisterial District, did commit felony to wit; stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 406, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

 

However, she pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, granted her bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 21st March, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
