The venue on Friday , 29 November 2024 was at the Naval Dockyard Limited on Victoria Island, Lagos, the foremost engineering facility of the Nigerian Navy, where the Admiral Superintendent of the Dockyard, Rear Admiral Abolaji Abolade Orederu, was honoured and celebrated by the Association of Certified Protocol Practitioners In Nigeria.

Though very brief, attendees at the Cocktail Event with the Theme: “The Protocol Renaissance in Nigeria” attested to the fact that protocol professionals are always committed to excellence in protocol.

Executive President of the ACPPN, Micheal Ikinbor in his opening remarks told his audience that “the theme of tonight’s gathering reflects a pivotal moment in our nation—a renewed interest, a renaissance if you will, in how we perceive and implement protocol across various sectors.

“This evolution is not merely about adherence to traditions or rules; it is about embracing the dynamic nature of our society and ensuring that our practices resonate with the values and aspirations of all Nigerians.

“In collaboration with the Nigerian Navy, we recognize the critical role that protocol plays not only in governance and diplomacy but also in fostering unity, respect, and understanding among our diverse cultures.

“The Navy has long been a symbol of discipline and dedication, serving as a reminder that protocol is the backbone of successful interactions both within and outside our borders,” Ikinbor said.

While appreciating and celebrating the Admiral Superintendent of the Dockyard, Rear Admiral Abolaji Abolade Orederu, who was decorated as a Patron of the association, ACPPN President said that “I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the organizers of this event, especially the Nigerian Navy, the Naval Dockyard Ltd for their unwavering support and commitment to enhancing the practice of protocol in our country. Your collaboration exemplifies the spirit of unity that is essential for driving meaningful change.

“Naval Dockyard Limited is known for process and excellence. As protocol professionals we came to collaborate with them for us to know what made the Dockyard excelled,” Ikinbor said.

To Rear Admiral Orederu, the event was very interesting and historic for the Dockyard hosting the Association of Certified Protocol Practitioners In Nigeria.

“I can tell you that we see a lot of synergy in what the ACPPN is doing and in our own operations. Protocol is very much embedded in what we do. This is because every other day, we are hosting people, marketing the Yard to our visitors and of course, we are hosting receptions. We saw an opportunity to synegise with the ACPPN because we have a lot to contribute, and I must say we all have an amazing night,” he said.

Speaking on the honour bestowed on him, Rear Admiral Orederu said that he was delighted and happy, adding that he believes on what the association stands for and he would love to associate with the protocol professional on a personal level. There is a lot people can explore in the protocol practice. You can’t believe that what we do in the armed forces is basically lot of protocol works.

The climax of the cocktail event was the decoration of Rear Admiral Orederu as the Patron of the Association performed by the representative of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Maclaren Kosuwei of Century Energy Services, who was joined on the podium by the national executive of the ACPPN.
