Ailegun East CDA, Ejigbo Providing Model For Community Development

Ailegun East Community Development Area, CDA, in Ejigbo has started mobilization to embark on repairing of the various streets in their area worth millions of Naira in their drive for community development.

P M.EXPRESS reports as disclosed by their Chairman, Chief Ikechukwu Agina, during their Exco meeting hosted by one of the executive members, Eze Sunday Alex Nwoye, held at Aceland Royal Garden, Ejigbo, Lagos.

Chief Agina said the drive to make their area habitable and conducive was arrived by the residents following repeated appeals to the Ejigbo LCDA to come to their rescue and it was not forthcoming and the residents decided to contribute funds to repair the roads so that it will be motorable.

He noted that Ailegun Road is the major road that links Ejigbo to other areas such as Isheri Oshun, Jakande Estate and other areas but it has been in sorry state with repeated appeals to the LCDA to come to their aid.

He explained that the CDA comprises of nine streets and the residents were making contributions to start repairing the streets from Aceland to others as they get funds to embark on the project while still appealing to the LCDA to work on Ailegun Road which connects to other areas.

This was collaborated by the former chairman of the CDA, Dr. B.N. Ifuma, who explained that the CDA was formed to protect the interest of the residents in the areas of security, environmental hazards and welfare of members in the area.

Dr. Ifuma noted that since the CDA was formed eight years ago, it has been a model for other CDAs in Ejigbo because the leadership had always provided accountability and transparency in all their dealings which built trust, confidence and support for any project embarked on the area.

Speaking in the same vein, the General Secretary, Engr. Raph Okoroafor, commended the residents for their cooperation and noted that the CDA had always worked with other security and the government agencies to ensure that the area was protected and habitable. He appealed to the LCDA authorities to come to their aid in the area of bad roads noting that the residents will always work with the LCDA in the areas they want their support. 

The executive members of the Ailegun East CDA included: Chief Ikechukwu Agina, Chairman,  Chief F.I. Bamgbade and Pastor O. Matthew, first and second Vice Chairman respectively, Engr. Raph Okereafor and George Wilson are General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary respectively while Shola Adeniran is PRO.

Others included: Prince B. Ogunjobi as Financial Secretary while Chief A.S.M. Nwoye is Treasurer, Elder D. Anna and Val Orji are Welfare and Social officers respectively while ACP Agba Nchor (Rtd) is the Security Chairman. The Auditor is Prince Bello while Dr B.N.Ifuma and Barrister O.A. Odofin are ex-officials.
