Akarigbo, Awolowo, Oduguwa, Others Bagged Prestigious ‘Art 4 Peace Initiative’ Award

His Imperial Majesty Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the paramount ruler and Akarigbo of Remoland has been honoured as the Global Peace Leader by the Art4Peace Initiative.

The monarch was honoured at an event held at IDEAS Centre, GRA Sagamu over the weekend to mark the one year anniversary of the Global Peace Tree planting in Nigeria.

The award was presented Queen (Dr) Irone Munni, the Founder and President of the Global Peace Tree Planting Programme.

Oba Ajayi received the award with delight and appreciated guests especially Dr. Munni for connecting to the world through her programme.

He further said that works are meant to be done in bringing up developmental projects for the achievement of a sustainable society because expectations are high from the citizens.

Honoured alongside the revered monarch as Global Peace Leaders were Dr. (Mrs) Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu; Mr. Muyiwa Oladipo, Ogun State Commissioner of Culture and Tourism; Mr Olufemi Lawson and Mr. Abayomi Thompson.

Also recognized were famous author and poet Mr. Adedara Oduguwa, who was awarded as a Global Peace Ambassador and Mr. Ujadughele Collins Ehis as the Youth Global Peace Leader award.

Speaking during the presentations of the awards, Dr. Munni, from Beverly Hills, United States of America, told all the award recipients that the honour is a call to service as it comes with a lot of responsibilities.

“I charge you to be a global peace Ambassador. Our initiative wants to see to the eradication of poverty, wants and lack in Nigeria and Africa through investments and creation of jobs. Poverty cannot be eradicated without jobs. It is the responsibility of all of us to do this. I call on all well meaning Nigerians and Africans to partner with us. So that together we can eradicate poverty,” she said.

Receiving his award, Oduguwa, who was the host, thanked everyone who were part of the group, particularly the Global leader Dr. Munni who came all the way from the United States of America to mark the anniversary and decorate some notable Nigerians with such revered award.

“I am not really moved by awards but they kept coming. This particular award is much appreciated by me because having won several awards; this is the first in this category. I have lived for 32 years without fighting anyone within and outside Nigeria. I also believe everyone seated here are important and merits to be honoured, based on this, I am dedicating this award to everyone,” said Oduguwa, who also bagged another award early this week as the ‘Most Creative and Historical Writer’ by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, South West.

In his closing remark, Oladipo, the Commissioner thanked Art 4 Peace Initiative for remembering Nigeria and Africa in its agenda.

He enjoined everyone to seek peace in all they do.
