Posted on April 18, 2025

The Secretary to the Local Government, Ikeja Local Government Area, Hon. Akeem Olalekan Dauda, popularly known as AKOD, has commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for the timely release of the 2025 Local Government Election Guidelines on Tuesday, 15th April 2025.

In a statewide broadcast monitored by members of the press, Hon. Dauda, who also serves as the Chairman of Scribe 57, Lagos State, described the development as a welcome one. He praised LASIEC for its diligence and professionalism, noting that the released guidelines align with the provisions of the Lagos State Electoral Act and further reinforces public confidence in the electoral process.

AKOD urged all political parties and aspirants across the State to strictly adhere to the rules and guidelines set by LASIEC, warning that any violation could have serious repercussions. He also called on aspirants and their supporters to avoid campaigns of calumny and to eschew violence as the campaign season begins.

He emphasized the importance of issue-based campaigns, stating that this period offers aspirants a vital opportunity to articulate their plans and programmes to the electorate. “The power to elect leaders rests with the people,” he said. “It is through informed choices that the best candidates; those who will steer the affairs of our councils responsibly, will emerge.”

Drawing from his wealth of experience as a consummate grassroots politician and seasoned administrator, AKOD advised voters to assess candidates based on the *“3Cs” principle, standing  for Competence (Capacity), Character and Confidence.* According to him, these are the critical pillars that can drive meaningful development at the grassroots level.

“With these three qualities in place,” he concluded, “Ikeja will move to a greater height of progress.

While addressing the press, he said “I, Akeem Olalekan Dauda, proudly embody these values and remain committed to the advancement of our community.”

“God bless Ikeja Local Government!
God bless Lagos State!!
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!”
