Akuba’s Hatrick Earns Buruj Academy Democracy Day Win In Ikorodu

Buruj Sports Academy’s captain and utility player, Akuba Ignatius, was the cynosure of all eyes after scoring a hatrick to cap an all-round display in the team’s 4-2 win over Unique-Fun All-stars in Ikorodu on Democracy Day. 

The Kogi-born player who excelled alongside young striker Noah Salaudeen and were both offered opportunity for trial with Borehamwood FC during the academy ‘s trip to the United Kingdom last year, thrilled the spectators with his deft touches and spectacular stamina to lead his team to a resounding victory in a match that was also organised to prepare the boys for their upcoming trip to Manchester, England, for the defense of the English Super Cup title they won last year.

The 18 years old also impressed the technical crew of Borehamwood on the course the trials before returning to the country early this year and he is due back in the Queensland to continue his soccer and academic programmes later this year.

And following his exemplary conduct, he was handed the captain’s band few weeks ago by the management of the academy and he is expected to lead the team to Manchester for the task of retaining the title English International Super Cup Champions come July, this year.
