COMMUNIQUE OF NAPPS LAGOS STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL, CHAPTER’S CHAIRMEN AND ELDERS’ FORUM BODY HELD ON MONDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2024 AT NAPPS SECRETARIAT, AGO- OKOTA, LAGOS.
We, members of National Association of Proprietors Private Schools, (NAPPS) Lagos State, Nigeria held an emergency stakeholders meeting on Monday 9th, December 2024 at NAPPS Secretariat, Ago- Okota, Lagos under the leadership of the National President, Hajia Samira Jibri, PhD.
The meeting was convened and facilitated by Lagos State President, High Chief, Alaka Yusuf Lukman, members of the State Elders’ Forum headed by Alhaji Rahman Adebowale Bello with 15 Lagos NAPPS Local Government Chapter’s chairmen following the unprecedented incident that happened at Agege NAPPS chapter where the suspended former National President, Chief Yomi Otubela made a dramatic appearance.
The Council deliberated and resolved as follows:
.The prominent stakeholders reiterated their commitment to the 2017 Constitution and reaffirmed the sanctity of the election which produced High Chief Alaka Yusuf Lukman as the Lagos State President.
.Delegates reaffirmed their commitment to his Administration as the duly elected State Chairman under the National Presidency of Haija Samira Jibri, PhD, NAPPS Board of Trustees, chaired by Dr. Said Mijinyawa and Baale Sakiru Raji as the Secretary of the Board.
We urge members to disregard any further disinformation from any unscrupulous groups.
.The delegates denounced the pronouncement of suspended former National President, Chief Yomi Otubela nominating Mr. Samuel Bodunde by fiat as Lagos State President as this action is alien to our 2017 NAPPS Constitution as the only way to office is through election.
.The unilateral invitation of Mr Yomi Otubela to the 2024 Alimosho Local Government Chapter Banquet caused embarrassment to all stakeholders, especially members of the Alimosho chapter, Lagos State NAPPS members who were taken unaware. Members of the Chapter therefore passed a vote of no confidence and indefinite suspension of Mr Bodunde Samuel as the Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Chapter to allow for proper investigation.
. The members demanded that educators, public agencies, and the state government immediately stop engaging with Mr. Samuel Bodunde and suspended former National President, Chief Yomi Otubela as they have been declared persona non grata.
.The delegates also expressed grave concern over the unprecedented disrespect of High Chief Alaka Yusuf Lukman, on December 5th, 2024 at Alimosho Banquet and call the attention of the State authorities to the activities of suspended former President Yomi Otubela.
Delegates also condemned the changing of NAPPS official documents at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
.This has resulted in a series of unnecessary legal and administrative issues for the Association and complicating the organisation’s governance.
.That the Lagos State Chapter of NAPPS has distanced itself from the purported Board of Trustees constituted by ousted Chief Yomi Otubela.
Tenure elongation pushed by Chief Yomi Otubela to extend his term which elapsed in November 2023 was vehemently rejected, just like an attempt to unilaterally implement amendment to the constitution of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) was not accepted because it was pursued without the necessary consultation or formal approval from the stakeholders who believe such actions undermine the principles of transparency.
.Our resolve is unshakable; our resolution is clear. On the mandate of 2017 Constitution we stand.
