62-year old Alhaji Rasheed Kareem has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he allegedly lured an 8-year old girl, inserted his finger and subsequently penetrated her private part.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Alhaji, Kareem, has been arrested and charged for defilement.
The incident happened at Oloja Street, Bariga area of Lagos State, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Alhaji Kareem, lured the girl, removed her pants, inserted his finger into her private part and later penetrated her before he allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone.
However, the girl was said to have exposed him by informing her parents, who then went to Bariga Police Division and reported the alleged dastardly act. Hence, he was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Yaba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
But when he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
