The Chairman of the Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland and a national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Yekini Adeojo.

Ayorinde described the passing of the elder statesman as a monumental loss not only to Oyo State but to the entire Nigerian nation.

Chief Ayorinde, in a heartfelt statement issued on Friday, said, “It is with extreme sadness but with gratitude to the Almighty that I notify all our members of the passing and transition of our dear Alhaji Seriki Yekini Adeojo, which occurred this morning.”

He noted that Adeojo’s legacy would endure as a beacon of leadership, integrity, and service.

Alhaji Adeojo, who died in the early hours of Friday in Ibadan, was widely revered as both a political strategist and a respected traditional figure in Yorubaland.

His death, Chief Ayorinde noted, marks the end of an era defined by commitment to democratic values, interreligious harmony, and grassroots development.

“He was a great man, a political colossus, and a patriotic leader who will be thoroughly missed,”

Ayorinde said. “His wise counsel, courage in leadership, and deep understanding of Nigeria’s political dynamics made him a pillar within our party and a respected voice in national discourse.”

The Oyo Advisory Council Chairman lauded Adeojo’s contributions as instrumental in shaping the political landscape of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

A founding member of the PDP, Adeojo’s influence was felt across generations of political leaders who looked up to him for guidance and mentorship.

Beyond politics, Alhaji Adeojo was known for his religious devotion and commitment to the promotion of Islamic values and unity among religious communities.

Chief Ayorinde described him as “a devoted Muslim and an exemplary father figure to many,” noting that his moral compass and spiritual leadership were sources of strength to countless followers.

“May the Almighty forgive his sins and receive his soul in the great beyond,” Ayorinde prayed, offering condolences to the Adeojo family, the PDP, the Muslim community, and the people of Yorubaland.

The late Chief Adeojo’s passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from political leaders, community stakeholders, and religious groups who all recall his selflessness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to public service.

As a custodian of culture and tradition, the Seriki Musulumi played a pivotal role in promoting peace and harmony across Yorubaland.

His demise, according to Chief Ayorinde, leaves “a vacuum that will be hard to fill, but his life and legacy will continue to inspire.”

Plans for Alhaji Yekini Adeojo’s burial are expected to be announced by his family in accordance with Islamic rites.

Chief Adeojo was the former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and held the prestigious title of Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland. He was also a notable chieftain in Ibadan.

Adeojo was one of the founding members of the PDP in Oyo State and the father of Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, the current Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government.

Chief Ayorinde also console with His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Makinde, the Government and good people of Oyo State, noting that “Pa Adeojo was a shining star in the filament of the State. He was especially dear to the Governor and many sought his advice and wisdom irrespective of their political leanings. I have been close to him for about 40 years and was actively engaged with him as his private lawyer for many years.”

He died in a Lagos hospital and has been buried in Ibadan according to Islamic rites.
