Anambra At 35 — The Time To Go Green Is Now

Today, Anambra State marks 35 years of existence. As we celebrate this milestone, the State Government is seizing the moment to draw attention to a pressing issue — the state of our environment.

For too long, our rapid urbanization has turned parts of Anambra into concrete jungles. The result is clear — worsening erosion, devastating floods, and declining green cover. If we do nothing, the next 35 years will inherit the same problems, only worse.

This is why we must draw inspiration from global examples like China’s vision of “green mountains and clean waters”. Development and environmental health are not opposites. They can, and must, go hand in hand.

The Soludo administration believes it is time to be intentional. Anambra must transition from concrete to green. That means protecting our forests, planting trees, managing waste properly, and safeguarding our waterways.

The erosion and flooding challenges confronting us will not be solved by government alone. They require the active participation of every citizen — in our homes, schools, markets, and communities. Simple acts like tree planting, proper drainage, and responsible waste disposal can save communities.

As we look ahead to the next 35 years, our goal is bold but clear: Anambra MUST become the cleanest and greenest state in Nigeria.

This anniversary is more than a celebration of our past. It is a call to action for our future.
A green Anambra is a healthy Anambra. A green Anambra is a prosperous Anambra.
