Angry Traders Stoned KAI Officers For Allegedly Sharing Their Goods

Two officers of Kick Against Indispline, KAI, Taiwo Haruna and Nurudeen Lawal have escaped death after an angry traders attacked and used stones to lynch them while they went to enforce Lagos street trading laws.

The incident happened at Caaso bus stop along Lagos -Abeokuta expressway where the officers had gone to arrest street traders.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that though the two officers escaped death, they were reportedly wounded as a result of the attack.

P.M.EXPRESS’ findings revealed that the traders took the law in their hands against the officials because they saw the KAI officers as robbers in government uniform who came to the streets to arrest them and share their goods in the false pretence of enforcing street trading laws.

They alleged that the KAI men have been consistently coming to the area to seize their goods which has resulted in huge losses to the traders.

Two of the suspected traders who carried out the attack have been arrested by the police at Alakuko division and charged before Ogba Magistrates court for the attack.

The suspects, Solomon Ike and Omega Zebede were charged with conspiracy and attack on the victims by stoning them.

They pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Davis Abegunde granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 17 July, 2017.
