Main Market Onitsha witnessed the actions of the Anambra State Joint Enforcement Team, ANJET, yesterday, 4th November, 2022, as the outfit moved to decongest the roads and streets of the market.

The Chairmen, as well as the traders and customers, who were there at Sokoto road, Kano Street, Bright Street and some other parts of Main Market yesterday felt the impact of the enforcement team as the traders who used to perpetually sample their goods or station same for business transactions were ordered to pack them away from the roads and streets of the market and to permanently keep the roads (streets) free and environmentally neat for both vehicular and human movements, as well as conducive for trading.

The leader of Team B1 of ANJET, Hon. Azuka Okolie, who is in charge of enforcement in the market and its environs, took enough time to tell the traders to leave the roads and to make sure that they do not station their goods again on the gutters in front of their shops or even across, and gave them stern warning that defaulters will be prosecuted. Hon. Azuka also called on the leaders of the market to remove the heaps of wastes that block some of the roads in the markets. Going further, he called on the owner of Peter Chinedu Plaza to dismantle the huge Lister generator he mounted on the drainage system in front of his plaza in the market. He also told all shop owners that the outfit will come after them by prosecuting them should they continue to allow people to trade beyond their shops by occupying the roads in front of their shops. He reminded them that the roads belong to the state government and were constructed for the movement of vehicles and persons who come to do business in the market.

Ndi Anambra can truly confirm from all these efforts that Prof. Soludo’s administration has come to make the state shine better as the young administration is walking her talk of making Anambra State an industrial hub, a liveable cum prosperous homeland beautified by clean and green environment. Creating a business friendly environment is the goal.

The Solution Is Here!
