APP Imo State Commends Peaceful Conduct Of Congresses & Congratulates Newly Elected Ward Executives

Posted on April 23, 2026

The Interim Caretaker Committee of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Imo State, under the leadership of Hon. Ernest Njesi, has extended warm congratulations to the newly elected Ward Chairmen and members of their Executive Committees across the 305 wards in the state, following the successful conduct of the Ward Congresses held on Wednesday, 22nd April, 2026.

According to Cajetan Duke, JP, Interim State Publicity Secretary, “This achievement represents a significant milestone in the consolidation of the party’s grassroots structures and the promotion of internal democracy”.

“The party also commends our leaders and members for the largely peaceful, orderly, and transparent conduct of the exercise in almost all wards across the state. The commitment, resilience, and sacrifices demonstrated by party faithful throughout the process are deeply appreciated and duly acknowledged. Such dedication continues to strengthen the unity and progressive ideals of the Action Peoples Party in Imo State.”

“However, the party notes with regret that in a few wards, the exercise was not without undue interference arising from conflicts of interest among some top leaders of the party. While the party strongly condemns such political behavior, which is clearly inconsistent with our core values and principles, we reassure all relevant stakeholders of our firm commitment to addressing all issues through the established internal conflict resolution mechanisms of the party.”

“Finally, we urge all newly elected ward officers to be good ambassadors of the party and to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, diligence, and strict adherence to the relevant provisions of the Party Constitution. As key drivers of the party’s activities at the grassroots level, their roles remain vital to building a more united, disciplined, and people-oriented party.”
