Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RSS) of the Lagos State Command have arrested one of the armed robbery suspects a.k.a “once chance” while attempting to rob a lady, Olupitan Tolulope, of her property with Aboniki balm during an operation on the highway with his gang.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 48-year old Aniyah James Ajons on 3rd March, 2025, at Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos, conspired with other suspects now at large and attempted failed armed robbery.
According to the Police, “On 3rd March, 2025 at about 0755hrs at Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos, one Olupitan Tolulope boarded a Toyota Car going to Ibafo, in which four men have occupied the back seat but on getting to expressway, they suddenly attacked the complainant with hammer and also inserted Aboniki balm on her face”.
“In the course of hitting the driver, the vehicle ran into a culvert and eventually stopped.  The criminals hurriedly took to their heels and went into hiding. But one of them, by name Aniyah James Ajons, was arrested by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and transferred to Special Squad 1 for further investigation.”
During interrogation, the suspect confessed and he was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The charges read:
“That you, Aniyah James Ajons ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 3rd March, 2025 at about 0755hrs at Allen Avenue Ikeja Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Attempted armed robbery and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted the request and ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
