Army Cancels Conference As Army General Dies From Covid-19

The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Gen. Irefin, has died of Covid-19 while attending Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Training conference.

Reports have it that the late General might have infected other participants at the conference.

Meanwhile, the Army authorities have cancelled the ongoing Chief of Army Staff’s Annual Conference 2020 taking place in Abuja.

In a statement by the Army spokesman, Brig. General Sagir Musa, it says that the Military formation announced this having realised that an officer, who participated in the conference, tested positive to COVID-19.

According to the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sagir Musa, all the participants of the conference, including himself have been mandated to immediately proceed on self isolation in line with the Federal Government’s protocol for COVID-19 and to prevent any further spread of the disease.
All attendees are now in isolation.
