Association Chairmen At NYG Camp In Bariga, Urge Team Lagos Athletes To Make The State proud

In preparation for the Team Lagos athletes ahead of the 6th edition of the National Youth Games holding in Ilorin, Kwara State from 10th to 20th October 2021, some Chairmen of sports associations going to the games visited the athletes who are rounding up their closed camping activities in Bariga area of Lagos State.

The visit is to enable the chairmen to motivate the athletes ahead of their participation at the games holding at the University of Ilorin.

The chairmen during the visit have a pep talk with the athletes sport by sport and urged them to make the state proud during the games in Ilorin.

Speaking during the meeting with the chairmen at the camp venue, the Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar hinted that their presence at the camp would no doubt motivate the athletes to perform optimally at the games in Ilorin.

“Your visit to the camp today will gear up the athletes to perform optimally at the games in Ilorin.

“By interfacing with these athletes, it will motivate and encourage them to perform well during the games”.

He hinted that all the necessary resources needed to participate in the games have been graciously given to us by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“On our part at the Commission, we will leave nothing to chance to ensure sports in Lagos State continue to develop. To make this happen, we need your cooperation to enable us to achieve our goals together,” he said.

Lagos will be going to Ilorin with 260 athletes to participate in 33 sports.

The contingent will depart Lagos to Ilorin Kwara State on Sunday to join athletes from other states including Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Team Lagos placed 2nd behind Delta State Team at the 5th Edition of the National Youth Games in 2019 in Ilorin Kwara State.
